Our guest speaker, Joan Binder, will be introducing the following four very different books she has enjoyed during this year so far:

 

Remarkable Creatures by Tracey Chevalier – The story of Mary Anning the dinosaur fossil finder in Lyme Regis in  the early 1800s

 

A Day in Summer by J L Carr – Set in the 1950s in the village of Great Minden as it prepares for the annual summer festival,  tensions simmer amongst the residents as the day gets hotter.

 

The Beekeeper of Aleppo by Christy Lefteri – The touching and heart rending story of a refugee’s journey from war torn Syria to England

 

Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart – The 2020 Booker Prize winner is the story of a young boy growing up in deprived areas of Glasgow
