‘Introduction to Slow Stitching – Making a Scroll Book’ Workshop
Led by Paula MacGregor MA, local community artist
Sunday, 13th September in the Events Pavillion
10am – 3pm
£45 per person
Have you heard of ‘Slow Stitching’? It is a very gentle, almost meditative simple hand stitching exercise. Paula has been teaching it since the start of the new-year and has had lots of amazing feedback.
Slow Stitching is part of the Slow Movement, which advocates a cultural shift towards slowing down life’s pace. Many of us have been doing that since ‘lockdown’ began in March – but it also teaches us to relax and be mindful.
You will learn how to make a fabric scroll book and stitch into it using very simple stitches – if you can hold a needle then you can do this.
You will be provided with everything you need, pre-loved fabrics, lace, ribbon, threads, needles, beads etc. You will not complete this in class, but you will have the knowledge how to complete it at home in your own time.
An option half hour optional lunch break will take place – or you can continue to stitch while you eat! The Steam Pump Tea Room will be open selling scrumptious hot/cold food, cake and refreshments but please feel free to bring your own food/drinks.
Be warned, creating these little books can become addictive!
A £10 deposit is required, with the remaining payment on the day. Please note that a full refund will be provided if government guidelines at the time mean we are in a full lock-down.
